MECHANICAL COMPLETION
Fabricate, erect, install and connect equipment to design. Pre installation checking of Tagged equipment. e.g. Instrument Calibrations.
Check integrity of installations to approved drawings, including bolt testing, pressure testing, Leak test, hydro testing, flushing etc. Alignments,
Electrical / Instrument Cable checks such as final Meggar testing, continuity (point to point), checks (in Instrumentation this can be defined as “COLD LOOP TESTING”)
PRE-COMMISSIONING / COMMISSIONING
ENERGISATION OF PLANT & EQUIPMENT, (e.g.rotating ).
MCC’s , Motor tests. Electrical equipment tests.
Instrument LOOP testing……….Energisation of Instrument equipment. Simulation of “ Process “ conditions at field device, transmitting signal to end device (e.g. Computer screen or panel indication), effecting response signal return to receiving device (Control Valve, electrical , hydraulic and / or pneumatic equipment), observing correct response and operation. (defined as “ HOT LOOP TESTING” ). Safety System checks, C & E , ESD testing. Recovery testing.

VENDOR PACKAGE UNITS checked by Vendor FSR with assistance from constructor.
VENDOR responsibility for own package. Constructor responsibility at battery limits to and from Package.
COMMISSIONING is introduction of Media such as Air, Inert gas, Hydraulic Oil and other fluids (non-process), to run and test equipment and verify system operation for service.
These are generally recognized as agreed definitions. However they are a broad guide only and can be changed to individual project requirements as necessary.
